Alexandra Pearsall - President

Joining Council of Management in 2020, Alex previously served as chair of the Tomorrow’s Leaders Committee. Alex is currently the president of CICES, the youngest in CICES' history. Alex is also an Associate Director at global professional services company; Turner & Townsend. 

Alison Watson - Immediate past president

Alison Watson MBE is a former land surveyor and founder and chief executive of Class Of Your Own (COYO), an award-winning education consultancy and social enterprise she established in 2009. She is also the immediate past-president of CICES.

Marek Suchocki - Senior vice president

Marek Suchocki has over 35 years experience in the construction industry. He holds a Civil Engineering degree, is a Chartered Engineer, Chartered IT Professional, a Fellow of CICES and a Fellow of ICE and BCS.


 

Genna Rourke - Vice president

Genna Rourke is a senior construction and commercial professional with more than 20 years of industry experience. She is also chair of CICES' Women's Network and CICES vice-president.

Adam Holmes

Adam Holmes is a Chartered Engineer and Principal Planning Engineer with over 20 years at BAM. He has extensive experience in planning, commercial support, dispute avoidance and forensic schedule analysis across major civil engineering and infrastructure projects. 

Dr Andrew Evans

Andy is a life-long fan of digital survey engineering survey. A highly experienced civil engineering surveyor, Andy works in the product management team for Topcon Positioning Systems. He was the President of CICES between September 2022- September 2023.


 

Afsheen Ul-Haq

A dynamic Head of Planning and Project Controls at BAM UK & Ireland, with an MSc. from University of Oxford, Afsheen brings expertise in delivering complex, high-value construction projects. She thrives in challenging roles, applying strategic planning and data-driven insights to ensure successful project outcomes. 

Bernice Cowton

Bernice Cowton FCInstCES FCIOB FAPM MRICS has served the Institution as Yorkshire Region Chair, Vice Chair of the EDI Council and CoM. She’s committed to contributing positively to these roles, believing professional responsibility requires active engagement, thoughtful challenge and acting in the best interests of members and the wider profession.

Chris Birchall

Chris is the honorary treasurer of the institution and chair of the Finance & General Purposes Committee. Since 2007, he has also been on the board of SURCO. He has been in the industry for over 40 years, and is currently commercial director of a medium sized company.


 

Daniel Sum

Daniel Sum, FCInstCES, FCIOB, FRICS, MHKIS, is a distinguished Chartered Engineer, Quantity Surveyor, and Construction Manager. Since 2023, he has served on the CICES Council of Management, following his tenure as Chairman of the Hong Kong Region (2019–2023). 

Jim McCluskey

Jim is Chair of CMPC, a CICES examiner and co-organiser of the Commercial Management Conference. Jim is passionate about the industry and CICES and seeks to influence strategy as well as enhancing the professional accreditation current offering.  

Mark Coates

Mark Coates is Bentley’s Vice President of Infrastructure Policy Advancement, advising governments, policymakers and industry leaders worldwide on how digital transformation can improve infrastructure delivery and performance.


 

Mark White

Mark White is the Commercial Director at LandScope Engineering Ltd. LandScope is a specialist provider of geospatial, geoscience and hydrographical survey services.  

Michael Rogers

After gaining a BSc in Mining Geology in 1987, Mike began his career in the mining industry, spending three years in Southern Africa working as an Exploration and Mining Geologist on gold and diamond projects.  

Michael Wood

Michael Wood is an Associate Partner at Ridge and Partners LLP with over 20 years’ experience in geospatial surveying, specialising in land and utility mapping. He is a Fellow of CICES and a Member of RICS.


 

Peter Hallsworth

Peter Hallsworth is a Chartered Civil Engineer and undertook his first review as an examiner in 1982. He served the Institution of Civil Engineers as a Trustee and member of the Professional Reviews Panel and positively came to CICES to help establish the CEng and IEng qualification which was first awarded in 2015.

Russell Welsh

Russell Welsh FCInstCES, FRICS, FAIQS CQS is originally from Newcastle upon Tyne, and now lives in Brisbane, Queensland Australia. Russell is a chartered quantity surveyor and chartered project management surveyor with professional experience in the UK, Saudi Arabia, Korea and, for the last 37 years, Australia.

Sandy Powell

Sandy Powell is a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors and an Incorporated Engineer, with more than 25 years’ experience across land surveying, engineering surveying, and geospatial project delivery.
