Professional Registration
Chartered Engineer and Incorporated Engineer
Becoming a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer will ensure you gain recognition as a professional in your discipline. They provide the leading measure of competence, professionalism and ethical practice, in addition to showing your dedication to personal and professional development.
Registration is assessed against the Engineering Council’s UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence UK-SPEC. The specification characterises Chartered Engineers by ‘their ability to develop appropriate solutions to engineering problems, using new or existing technologies, promote advanced designs and design methods, introduce new and more efficient production techniques, marketing and construction concepts, or pioneer new engineering services and management methods. Chartered Engineers are engaged in technical and commercial leadership and possess effective interpersonal skills’.
The specification characterises Incorporated Engineers by ‘their ability to maintain and manage applications of current and developing technology. Incorporated Engineers may also be involved in engineering design, development, manufacture, construction and operation’.
Applications are welcome from CICES Members and Fellows.
