An affirmation of our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion
A joint statement from our president and chair of our EDI Council.
As an institution, we know how important it is that we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI).
In the face of the recent backlash against EDI/DEI practices in some spheres of influence, we stand resolute in our belief that diversity enriches our profession and society.
We recognise that many of the challenges towards EDI/DEI stem from ignorance, misunderstanding, misinformation, lack of awareness and/or resistance to change.
We remain steadfast in our mission to create an inclusive industry and wider society where every individual feels valued and respected through greater awareness and positive action. Our dedication to EDI goes far beyond just policies and articles — it is one of our Golden Threads, a core value that:
- Drives the evolution of civil engineering surveying
- Fosters diverse and effective collaboration
- Enhances quality of life for our members and wider society
EDI outcomes
We also believe that embracing diversity leads to better decision-making and more sustainable outcomes, because of the breadth of knowledge and expertise it enables.
As we navigate these turbulent times, we urge our members to continue championing EDI principles, knowing that our collective efforts will pave the way for a more equitable and inclusive future where, we can all succeed and celebrate that success.
