Simon Navin MCInstCES MRICS CCES has been elected as the future President of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES) for the 2028–2029 term.

He will join the institution’s Presidential Chain at the AGM on 2 September and assume the presidency at the AGM on the 7 September 2028.

A highly experienced Chartered Civil Engineering Surveyor and Geospatial professional, Simon is currently the Head of Geospatial Services at Ordnance Survey (OS) Great Britain’s national mapping service, leading on service delivery and performance.

 

Simon (pictured) has held several roles at CICES; he has been a trustee since 2024 as a member of the Council of Management and served as the chair of CICES’ Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) committee for three years.

Simon is also a member of CICES’ Education Panel and has also served on the Geospatial Engineering Practices Committee. He is a champion of future talent and diversity, a contributor to industry thought leadership through articles and publications, as well as a regular speaker at industry events, having most recently chaired a number of insightful panel discussions at the GeoBusiness 2026 conference.

The role of CICES President was established in 1973.

Presidents are elected by CICES trustees to chair the CICES Council of Management, with each presidential term lasting one year. Each President has a theme for their tenure.
