Congratulations to the award winners
CICES congratulates four exceptional students from the University of Derby who were recognised for their outstanding achievements during the University's graduation ceremony on 17 July 2026.
Rachel Hames, education outreach manager at CICES, attended the full graduation ceremony before presenting the awards to students who demonstrated exceptional hard work, commitment, drive and dedication throughout their studies.
The Civil Engineering course at Derby University is one of many across the country accredited by CICES.
The award recipients were:
Charlotte Taylor – BEng Civil Engineering Apprenticeship
Andras Bernhardt – BEng Civil Engineering
Sam Szczepanski – BEng Civil Engineering with Industrial Year
Lucy Whitlock – BSc Civil Engineering
Each student received a CICES award certificate along with a £250 cash prize in recognition of their achievements and contribution to their course.

It was a pleasure to attend the graduation ceremony and celebrate their achievements alongside their fellow graduates, families and academic staff. We wish them every success as they begin the next stage of their careers within the civil engineering profession."
