The Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) has started an industry-wide consultation about its future professional standards.

The consultation paper, Future Professional, was published in November. It includes a foreword by Dame Judith Hackitt, who led the independent review of building regulations and fire safety following the Grenfell Tower fire.

Future Professional comes in response to the events at Grenfell Tower in 2017, the subsequent public inquiry and continuing regulatory reforms.

The paper outlines CABE’s strategy for meeting industry challenges and establishing a framework for long-term development across the profession.

It has been published as CABE celebrates its centenary year in 2025.

Have your say

The association is now inviting industry professionals from across the building sector to read Future Professional and provide feedback via a survey.

The consultation remains open until 16 February 2026.
