Optimum standards
Each activity within a competency must be signed off to a specific standard of achievement, using one of the following levels:
A – Appreciation
A general awareness and understanding of the activity or subject.
Example: Reading a magazine article or attending a CPD event.
K – Knowledge
A more detailed understanding of the activity or subject, often gained through structured learning.
Example: A relevant topic studied during a degree course or formal training.
Note: This standard does not require practical application.
E – Experience
Hands-on involvement with the activity, either independently or under supervision.
Example: Performing the task in a workplace setting over a period of time, building on appreciation and knowledge.
B – Ability
The capability to carry out the activity without supervision and to supervise others.
