Eligibility:

Affiliate Membership

An Affiliate has an interest and involvement with the construction industry and may or may not wish to
move up to one of the qualification grades of membership. This grade may be used as a holding grade for those applicants working towards the Technical Member or Member grades.

All those who have an interest and involvement in the construction industry

Associate Apprentice Membership

Eligibility 

Associate Apprentice is open to those who have completed a relevant Level 3 or 4 apprenticeship, such as:

  • Geospatial Survey Technician (Level 3)
  • Construction Surveying Technician (Level 4, in development)
  • Surveying Technician (Level 3)
  • Equivalent apprenticeships, framework apprenticeships, or overseas qualifications (check with CICES HQ)
  • Commitment to progress to Member or Technical Member.

  • Subscription to Civil Engineering Surveyor (10 issues/year).

Eligibility 

A CICES-accredited degree, or 

  • An acceptable alternative (e.g., BSc, MSc, postgraduate diploma, S/NVQ) in construction, numerate, scientific, or geography disciplines.
  • Commitment to progress to Member or Technical Member.
  • (Check with CICES HQ if unsure about eligibility.)

Reinstatement

Technical Member, Member or Fellow

If you have been a Technical Member, Member or Fellow at any time over the last three years, you may apply for reinstatement. 

The application must include:

  • Reinstatement application form signed by a full Member or Fellow of CICES, ICE, RICS or CIOB.
  • A detailed CV.
  • A passport sized photograph.
  • Continuing professional development records for the last two years.
  • The application fee.

If it is more than three years since you were a Technical Member, Member or Fellow, please contact the 
membership department for advice on the application process.

Once your application to be reinstated has been accepted, you will be sent an offer letter
which will include an invoice for the annual subscription fee for the current year.
