The Women’s Network mentoring programme is open to women in civil engineering and surveying who would benefit from support, guidance, and encouragement as they develop their careers.
Whether you are just starting out, returning to the industry, stepping into a new role, or working towards your next career goal, mentoring can give you a valuable space to reflect, ask questions, and learn from someone with industry experience.
Being a mentee is not about having everything figured out. It is about being open to learning, ready to engage, and willing to take ownership of your development. A good mentoring relationship can help you build confidence, develop your skills, and gain clearer direction in your career.
If you are looking for support and are ready to commit to your own growth, we would love to hear from you.
What is expected of a mentee?
A mentee is expected to take ownership of their development and actively engage in the mentoring relationship. Mentees should come prepared, be open to feedback, and use mentoring sessions as an opportunity to reflect, learn, and take action.
Mentees are also expected to:
- Be clear about their goals and what they want from mentoring
- Attend meetings on time and communicate professionally
- Come prepared with topics, questions, or challenges to discuss
- Be open, honest, and willing to learn
- Take responsibility for actions agreed between sessions
- Respect confidentiality and the mentor’s time
The most successful mentoring relationships are built on commitment from both sides, with the mentee taking an active role in their own growth and development.
