The Women’s Network mentoring programme is looking for mentors who want to support and encourage women in civil engineering and surveying.

Mentoring is an opportunity to share your experience, offer practical guidance, and help someone build confidence as they progress in their career. You do not need to have all the answers. The most effective mentors listen well, ask thoughtful questions, and are willing to share honest insight from their own professional journey.

By becoming a mentor, you can play a meaningful role in helping others navigate challenges, develop skills, and take the next step in their careers. It is also a valuable opportunity to strengthen your own leadership and communication skills, give back to the profession, and contribute to a more supportive and inclusive industry.

If you are willing to commit some time, share your experience, and support the development of others, we would love to hear from you.

What is expected of a mentor?

A mentor is expected to provide guidance, encouragement, and honest insight based on their professional experience. Mentors should create a supportive and respectful environment, listen actively, and help mentees think through challenges rather than simply giving answers.

Mentors are also expected to:

  • Commit to regular meetings and be reliable
  • Share relevant experience, knowledge, and practical advice
  • Support goal setting and development planning
  • Encourage confidence, accountability, and professional growth
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries

The role of a mentor is to support, challenge, and guide, helping the mentee develop their own judgement and progress in their career.

Express interest in mentoring by completing the short form below, and a member of the team will get back to you.
